|As an entryway to Power Boating, RBYC offers Introduction to Power Boats. This introduction is a private lesson (for 1 – 3 people) that is available to those interested in their first powerboat experience.|
Introduction to Powerboating
Certification is not provided with these lessons, but a logbook will be provided to those who would like to continue their education at other RYA training centers. Lessons can be customized and are available for more than a single day. These lessons are conducted on an RBYC Outboard Vessel.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certification
As the only location in Bermuda approved to offer this course, RBYC is happy to offer this RYA certification. During this course, you will be provided with the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats.
It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at arborg speed, and collision regulations. The course can be taken inland or on the coast and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly. The course may be conducted in a variety of boat types, both arborg and displacement, and the certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which the training took place.
This program can be taken individually or with a group of up to 3 people. The course requires 16 on water hours, which we offer over in 5 days with 3-hour sessions.
Cost: $550/person (private), $300/person (group)
Direct Assessments are offered daily during a 3-hour session. This is available to experienced boat handlers who have logged at least 13 hours of on water training. Completion of this assessment results in obtaining the Level 2 Certification.
