RYA POWERBOAT LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATION

RBYC is happy to offer this RYA certification. During this course you will be provided with the skills and background knowledge needed to be a competent powerboat driver. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. This course is recognised by BF&M, FBM and Argus and they offer a discount on boat insurance. This course is also the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.

The course focuses on low speed, close quarters handling, man-overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at  speed, and collision regulations. The course may be conducted in a variety of boat types, both planing and displacement, and the certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which the training took place.

Course Information

Course Overview:

This course will give you the knowledge and skills on how to operate a powerboat in a safe and controlled manner. The course focuses on low speed maneuvers such as docking, anchoring, picking up a mooring, man overboard recovery and turning in confined spaces. It also focuses on how to operate a powerboat at planing speed in a safe manner. Other content on this course includes rules of the road, navigation, tides, weather & Safety at Sea.

Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 2 Days or Multiple Sessions
Minimum Age: 16 years old
Instructor/Student Ratio: 1:3
Materials Included: Start Powerboat book & license on successful completion
Course Cost: $650 1:1 or $480 per person minimum of 2 people.

Direct Assessment

Direct assessments are available on client demand. This can take 1/2 a day or a full day. This is available to experienced boat handlers who have logged at least 13 hours of on water training. Successful completion of this assessment results in obtaining the Level 2 Certification.
