The courses listed below are the courses that the RBYC has been granted permission to run by the RYA. All of these courses can be tailored to suit the client's needs with regard to timing and are available in Dinghy, Multi-hull and Keelboat. Adult Classes & Packages are offered between September and June and are based upon availability.
Want to learn how to sail in a drier and more forgiving boat than your typical dinghy? Then sign up for the Keelboat version of this course. The keelboat is a great platform to learn new skills, due to its stability and gives us more time to learn about a specific technique. This course will teach you how to rig the boat and how to sail as a team under supervision, as well as having the basic theorie of the principles of sailing.

Course Overview:Searching for that extra speed for downwind then take this spinnaker course. This course will provide you with the necessary skills and theory to understand how to sail a vessel using asymmetric spinnakers. Will explain the process of rigging, hoisting/dropping, flying and gybing the spinnaker.

Pre-requisites: Level 3

Adult RYA Training Scheme

Course Overview:

Course Overview: This course follows on from Start Sailing, providing more experience/knowledge and giving you the confidence to both helm and crew a boat without supervision. The course covers the basic maneuvers required in sailing and is nationally recognised as the ‘minimum standard’ for hire across many RYA affiliated centers.

Course Overview: This course gives you the chance to further your sailing skills and consolidate what you have learnt in Level 1 and 2. It also gives you the chance to get a taste of what is involved in the advanced modules for later on such as seamanship skills, start racing and sailing with spinnakers.

Course Overview:Day sailing is a fantastic way of getting out on the water for the day with your family. This two day course will go through a range of different topics that will help you with your theory and understanding to navigate your vessel successfully for a day voyage with confidence.

Course Overview:This course will give you the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence in order for you to take part in club level racing in suitable wind conditions. It will be ran by our advanced racing instructor who will go through vital information such as starting procedure and how to get around the race track. As well as covering theory topics on race preparation, race tactics and strategy. This course can be offered in our Laser dinghy or J80 keel-boat.

Course Overview: This course is all about improving your knowledge/technique to be able to skipper or crew higher performance dinghies. This course will run in the 29er or SL16 catamaran. On this course you would get to learn new techniques such as the basics to trapezing, use of sail control, rig setting and how it affects the shape of the sails. To round this course off, we will be looking up how to get the most out of our boat upwind and downwind.

Course Overview:Want to become self sufficient and independent on the water. Why not take this course which will teach you the necessary technique/theory on how to carry out maneuvers such as anchoring, reefing, man overboard, picking up a mooring and much more.
